The management of Chelsea have met with and are currently in talks with Italy coach, Antonio Conte over taking up the top coaching job at Stamford Bridge.
According to an exclusive report in Daily Express UK on Saturday, Conte was in London recently to speak with Chelsea top officials over him stepping into the shoes of Dutchman, Guus Hiddink, the current interim coach at Chelsea when he leaves at the end of the season.
Conte is out of contract at the end of the European Championships and has yet to be offered a new deal by the Italian FA.
Daily Express reports that Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich has made Conte one of his chief targets to succeed interim manager Guus Hiddink along with fellow Italian Massimiliano Allegri, now in charge at Juventus, and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.
Other contenders are Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini and Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli.
The paper also quoted Conte as saying that he wants to manage in the Premier League and has been taking English lessons, before meeting Chelsea agents last week for the second time to talk about the possibility of moving to Stamford Bridge once the Euros are finished – he was also in London before Christmas.
