Abuja - The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has been asked to vacate the office within 14 days, reportsPunch.
The order was handed down by Justice Hussein Baba of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja while ruling on the suit filed by former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan of Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak.
Gulak had dragged the party to court over the delay in appointing a substantive National Chairman for the party.
Justice Baba held that Secondus was occupying the position of the Acting National Chairman of the PDP illegally.
He noted that Secondus was occupying the position in gross violation of the party’s constitution.
The judge held that the position of the Acting National Chairman of the party should have been held by its eligible member from the North-East geopolitical zone in line with the zoning arrangement of the party recognised by its constitution.
He noted that Secondus was from Rivers State and not North-East geopolitical zone to which the PDP zoned the position.
